Work Types are used to categorise learning activities. They help staff organise activities, control who can access them, and determine where they appear in Schoolbox.
A Work Type can control:

Activity Audience determines who can access an activity that uses this Work Type.
If a user is not included in the Activity Audience, they cannot open or interact with the activity. They also cannot view grades or feedback for that activity.

| Staff Only | Only staff can access the activity. Students and parents cannot view it. |
| Staff & Students | Staff and participating students can access the activity. Parents cannot view it. |
| Staff & Parents | Staff and parents of participating students can access the activity. Students cannot view it. |
| Staff, Students & Parents | Staff, participating students, and parents can access the activity. |

Permitted Activities controls which activity types can use this Work Type.
If an activity type is not selected, this Work Type cannot be chosen when creating or editing that type of activity.

Grades Page Visibility controls whether activities using this Work Type appear on the Grades page.
When enabled, activities using this Work Type can appear on the Grades page if the user is included in the activity audience and feedback visibility settings.
When disabled, activities using this Work Type are hidden from the Grades page.
