Learning Activities are used to deliver teaching, assessment, collaboration, planning, and reporting within Schoolbox.
Each Learning Activity type supports a different workflow. The options available depend on your permissions, your school's configuration, the selected Work Type, and where the activity is being created.

Creating Learning Activities
Are you sure you want to remove this component?
The Learning Activity types available when creating a new activity depend on your permissions, the selected Work Type, and your school's configuration.
Some activity types require additional Schoolbox features to be enabled.
Reporting Activities are only available to users with permission to manage them.
Work Types can restrict which Learning Activity types are available through the Permitted Activities setting.
Some activity types may not be available in specific contexts, such as when creating customised activities for selected students.
Activity Audience And Feedback Visibility
Are you sure you want to remove this component?
Activity Audience and Feedback Visibility are separate settings that work together to control who can access a Learning Activity and its results.
Activity Audience determines who can access the activity. This is configured by the selected Work Type.
Feedback Visibility determines who can view grades and feedback after they already have access to the activity.
Feedback Visibility cannot override Activity Audience. If a user is excluded from the Activity Audience, they cannot open the activity or view its grades or feedback.

Feedback Visibility
Supported Learning Activities provide the following Feedback Visibility options:
Staff Only

Staff & Parent
Staff, Student & Parent
The available Feedback Visibility options depend on your school's LMS Policy settings.
Existing activities may retain a previously selected Feedback Visibility option, even if that option is no longer available for new activities.
For supported Learning Activity types, Feedback Visibility can also be updated from supported Markbook views.
How Dates Affect Visibility
Are you sure you want to remove this component?
Activity dates affect when students and parents can view and interact with Learning Activities.
Publish date controls when students and parents can see the activity.
Open date controls when students can begin work or submit responses, where relevant.
Due date controls due and overdue status.
Close date may prevent further access or hide closed activities, depending on the page or view.
Lesson Plans hidden from students are also hidden from parents.
Staff can generally view activities before they are visible to students and parents.
Student Participation
Are you sure you want to remove this component?
Student Participation controls which students are included in a Learning Activity.
Depending on the activity type and context, staff may be able to:
include students
exclude students
create a customised activity for selected students
add students to an existing customisation, where supported
Students who are excluded from an activity cannot access or complete it, even if the selected Work Type includes students.
If a student already has submissions, feedback, or activity interactions, Schoolbox may require confirmation before changing participation.
Student Participation is not available for every Learning Activity type or context.
Grades, Feedback, And Markbooks
Are you sure you want to remove this component?
Learning Activities can appear in Markbook and Grades pages depending on the activity type, Work Type, audience, dates, and feedback settings.
Work Types determine whether activities appear on Grades pages.
Feedback Visibility determines who can view grades and feedback.
Staff can manage grades and feedback through supported markbook views.
Students and parents only see grades and feedback when Activity Audience, Student Participation, dates, and Feedback Visibility allow it.
