Provide feedback using a rubric

Rubrics are completed from the grading page of a supported activity.

1. Open the activity you want to assess.
2. Open the student's submission or grading view.
3. Scroll to the Rubrics section.
4. Expand the rubric you want to complete, if required.

If multiple rubrics have been attached to the activity, each rubric can be completed independently.

Assess each indicator by selecting the descriptor that best reflects the student's achievement.

1. Review the student's work.
2. Select one descriptor for each indicator.
3. If Use Mark Range has been enabled, select the appropriate mark from the available range.
4. Repeat until all indicators have been assessed.

Schoolbox automatically calculates rubric totals and capability marks where they have been configured.

When a rubric includes point values, Schoolbox calculates a suggested grade for the activity.

• Select Assign from Rubric to apply the calculated grade to the activity.
• Review the calculated grade before saving.
• If required, manually adjust the activity grade.

The activity grade is independent of the rubric. Changing rubric selections updates the suggested grade, but does not update the activity grade until you select Assign from Rubric. Changing the activity grade does not change the rubric selections.

Select Calculation Details to review how the overall rubric result was calculated.

Rubric totals are calculated from capability marks. If Capability Mark Type uses a letter-grade scale, Schoolbox converts each capability grade using the raw grade configured for that grade level. The calculated rubric total may therefore contain decimals and may differ from the sum of the selected descriptor values.

Rubric feedback follows the same workflow as other activity feedback.

• Save feedback as a draft while marking is in progress.
• Publish feedback when it is ready for students and parents to view.
• Use bulk publishing to publish previously saved draft feedback for multiple students.

Students and parents can only view rubric feedback after it has been published and where activity visibility settings allow.
