Before setting up SOCS Single Sign-On, make sure you have access to both Schoolbox and SOCS.

  • You need administrator access in Schoolbox.
  • You need access to SOCS or contact with the SOCS team to complete the setup.

SOCS will need to complete their configuration before users can log in using their Schoolbox account.

Configure SOCS Single Sign-On

To allow SOCS to authenticate users through Schoolbox, create an OAuth client and provide the configuration details to SOCS.

  1. Go to OAuth Client Configuration
    Go to Administration > System Settings > OAuth Client Configuration.
  2. Create the OAuth client
    Select Add OAuth Client and enter the following details.

  3. Save the client
    Select Add.
    Schoolbox will generate:

    • Client ID
    • Client Secret

    Note: Copy and securely store the Client Secret. You won't be able to view it again after you close the OAuth Client Added window.

  4. Provide the details to SOCS
    Provide the following information to SOCS so they can complete the Single Sign-On configuration.
    1. Client ID: generated in the OAuth client.
    2. Client Secret: generated in the OAuth client.
    3. Authorisation endpoint: https://<schoolbox-url>/oidc/authorize
    4. Token endpoint: https://<schoolbox-url>/oidc/token
    5. Userinfo endpoint: https://<schoolbox-url>/oidc/userinfo

We recommend sharing these details using a secure detail sharing service like OneTime.

Once SOCS completes their configuration, users will be able to log in to SOCS using their Schoolbox account.

Manage the OAuth client

You can manage the SOCS OAuth client from the OAuth Client Configuration page.

In the OAuth Client Configuration page, you can select the relevant icon to edit Modify oAuth client icon, regenerate Regenerate oAuth client icon, or delete Delete oAuth client icon the OAuth client.

If you regenerate the Client Secret, provide the new Client Secret to SOCS.
