The SOCS Integration connects SOCS and Schoolbox, allowing schools to bring co-curricular information into Schoolbox and provide access to SOCS using Schoolbox accounts.

The integration supports:

  • Single Sign-On for SOCS.
  • Calendar Events from SOCS.
  • Sports Fixtures from SOCS.
  • Music Lessons from SOCS.
  • Co-Curricular Activities from SOCS.

Each capability can be configured independently to suit your school's requirements.

How the SOCS Integration Works

The SOCS Integration consists of two parts.

  • SOCS Single Sign-On allows users to access SOCS using their Schoolbox account.
  • SOCS Connector imports calendar events, sports fixtures, music lessons, and co-curricular activities into Schoolbox.

The SOCS Connector uses shared endpoint credentials. General feeds and sports fixture feeds can use different hosts, and each import type can be enabled independently.

The SOCS Connector can import four types of information into Schoolbox.

  • Calendar Events appear as Schoolbox calendar events and are automatically assigned to campuses based on information provided by SOCS.
  • Sports Fixtures are imported into the Schoolbox Fixtures module and can be displayed throughout Schoolbox.
  • Music Lessons appear as Schoolbox calendar events and are linked to staff and students using external IDs from SOCS.
  • Co-Curricular Activities are imported through the Schoolbox Fixtures module and linked to registered pupils and assigned staff using external IDs from SOCS.

Schools can enable any combination of these import types.

Once configured, SOCS data can be used throughout Schoolbox.

  • View calendar events in the Schoolbox Calendar.
  • View sports fixtures, teams, participants, and results through the Fixtures module.
  • Display fixture information on dashboards and pages.
  • View music lessons in staff and student calendars.
  • View co-curricular activities in calendars, dashboards, and page components.
  • Access SOCS using Schoolbox Single Sign-On.

The SOCS Connector uses one SOCS endpoint ID and endpoint token for all import types.

  • Calendar Events can be enabled independently.
  • Sports Fixtures can be enabled independently.
  • Music Lessons can be enabled independently.
  • Co-Curricular Activities can be enabled independently.

Use the General Feed Host for calendar events, music lessons, and co-curricular activities. Use the Sports Fixture Feed Host for sports fixtures, teams, and results.

Calendar Events and Music Lessons appear as normal Schoolbox calendar events using the configured feed names and default categories.

Sports Fixtures and Co-Curricular Activities are managed through the Schoolbox Fixtures module.

Changes to imported data should be made in SOCS and will be reflected in Schoolbox during the next successful synchronisation.
