All custom work should be reviewed. There are two significant changes that could impact custom work:
-
We removed the deprecated site_location configuration setting that was previously used to identify the school. All custom work has been updated to the new site_school_code.
-
We upgraded and repackaged the javascript graphing library and many custom reports are dependent on this. Please review any graphs in your custom reports.
-
-
Staff access permissions should be reviewed to ensure access is restricted where required. It is important to note that no additional access has been granted, but you may wish to prevent access to some areas of the system.
-
SimCheck by TurnitIn will be progressively enabled in stages over the next three months. All customers will be converted by the start of 2022. Plagscan will continue to operate until the switch occurs.
- In order to allow pastoral actions to sync with Synergetic in the future, the SELECT permission is required on the ‘luPastoralCareActionType’ table.

One of the main goals at Schoolbox is to provide teachers quick and easy access to an increasing array of information about students. As this list has grown, we have recognised that not all staff at your school require the same access to all information. To better manage student information, we have developed new role based permissions, allowing finer control over exactly the information that staff can access. For example, you can now create roles for coaches, grounds staff, administration and support staff with the ability to provide access to the information they need, and prevent access to the information they don’t require.

To simplify the process of using Schoolbox when your school uses the Compass SIS, this new connector will periodically connect to Compass APIs and automatically synchronise staff, parent and student data, as well as your timetable.

Staying well informed about each and every student can be challenging, teachers need to keep up to date with a range of student information including ILPs, medical plans, and strategy sheets. The new pastoral flags feature allows schools to develop their own set of icons that can be used to highlight particular aspects of their pastoral program, offering teachers fast access to relevant information. The flags will be visible on the class list, student profile page and Synergetic attendance screen.
To make it easier to gather the right information in your pastoral records, pastoral moderators will now have the ability to configure a template for general comments on each pastoral type and sub-type. This time-saving feature will speed up record writing and ensure consistency. The templates and the creation of each pastoral care record may also contain student name tokens, year level and house information to easily personalise the record, even when creating a record for multiple students.

Although badges have opened up unique individualised pathways for student progression tracking, managing these on an individual basis can quickly become onerous. The new class badge report allows you to quickly distribute goals and achievements across your class or group. It helps you track exactly where each student in your class is at with their goals, helping you challenge students that are ready for a new set of goals, or provide additional support to those who have yet to meet their achievements.

Similarity checking is an important part of the assessment process. Now with the help of TurnitIn, we are able to improve the accuracy and quality of our similarity reports. In order to improve the accuracy, reports will now automatically exclude any attachments that were included like cover sheets or worksheets, in addition to the students own draft submissions. Alongside this, reports are now editable, allowing the teacher to review and exclude matches, automatically updating the report and score seen by students.
In order to make the most of this technology, you will now find a dedicated similarity report available to review the entire class scores and quickly request resubmission of any work that does not pass originality standards.
For those looking for the ultimate similarity checking solution, we are also pleased to be able to offer TurnItIn Similarity. By upgrading your standard similarity checker, you will be able to cross check against student submissions, publications and journals from around the world.

When creating learning activities for students, you can now integrate tools which best support a particular activity. For example, the LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) 1.3 standard now allows you to plug and play 3rd party learning tools directly into your assessments. The LTI 1.3 Advantage implemented by Schoolbox brings with it several enhancements to allow the automatic setup of students and the return of results into your Schoolbox markbook.
This latest standard is supported by many leading learning tool providers including Google Assignments, Microsoft, and MatLab. While individual providers may have unique workflows, each assessment created using LTI 1.3 connects into a Schoolbox due work item, with results available in the markbook.
