Creating time to meet people and inviting others to participate is an important part of the school community. It could be anything from tutorials, project collaborations, music lessons or parent teacher meetings, in person or online. With Schoolbox you can schedule these events, and many more, while managing the attendees quickly and easily.
Events can be shared between individuals or a larger audience, like your class or campus. Once shared, anyone with visibility of the event can respond to let you know if they are attending, and the event will appear in their calendar.
Of course, sometimes you want to be discrete, so you have the ability to hide the guest list or make the event only visible to attendees. To ensure your event stays just the right size to be effective, you can set a maximum guest limit, and as the organiser, you can manually adjust the attendees if required.
Anyone invited to an event will be immediately notified of the upcoming event and of course it will appear in their calendar. Events awaiting your confirmation will appear as semi-transparent.
Once attendance to the event is confirmed, the colour will change to solid.
If you can’t make the event, you can let the organiser know and the event will be struck through on your calendar.

Making it easier to manage your course and deliver activities is a key part of our functionality. Schoolbox projects have become a great way to wrap up a group of activities and roll them out as a set. However, sometimes you want to build a project as you go. We have improved the workflow so now you can push individual project activities to your class as you go. This allows you and your teachers to easily update and manage your projects. On an even more exciting note, you are now able to move activities between projects and units within your course. So now when you change the structure of your curriculum, you can simply take a single activity or project, and move it to a different unit. This might be especially beneficial for managing all the learning activities that were created during remote learning!
Continuous reporting continues to be a major reason for utilising Schoolbox, allowing you to provide insight and transparency across the school into a student's learning journey and progress. However, across K-12, that progress and achievement is often represented in different ways. To help ensure you can provide the continuous report that is right for each specific year level, we have now moved many of our reporting policy settings into one location, so you can easily assign the policy settings to different year levels. You can apply year level(s) to any class page, effectively giving each year level the ability to have its own unique way to continuously report. We also added the ability to show the overall grade as a percentage, which was a commonly requested feature.
Finally when getting new teachers on board with Schoolbox, mistakes in the assessment process can happen. Traditionally, only administrators have been able to alter the assessment history. Now you can enable your teachers to edit the submission history of any assessment, allowing them to fix any mistakes.

Last release we introduced statistics for each news item, but now you can go even further. Our new audience report will show you exactly who received the news, and who has read the article and when they did so.
To make the news look its best, we have also added a few new layout options for the dashboard component. You may now select from a list or card based layout.
Card Layout
List Layout (Choose left or right justified images)

In addition, the fall back image when a feature image is not available can be customised to display your school logo, or the portrait of the author.

Immersive Reader is currently a free tool provided by Microsoft, that is designed to assist with reading. It provides a full screen experience that reduces clutter, and allows changes in font size, spacing and colour. It can even highlight words and read it aloud to the student, in any language they choose.
NOTE: Immersive Reader will remain free until the 1st of October. Following this, the first 3 million characters will be free, and there will be an additional charge for characters over this amount.
To enable Immersive Reader, you will need to connect Schoolbox to Azure, and sign up for the free Immersive Reader Service.
Once connected, your users will see a small Immersive Reader icon next to content in activities, news articles and textboxes. Clicking the icon will unlock the amazing features outlined above.

Powering the continuous report are the rubrics attached to our assessments. However as continuous reporting and traditional reports continue to merge, ensuring that rubrics can support you in delivering assessments that meet compliance requirements has become increasingly important. To assist, we now allow capability grading to be completely independent from assessment grades. Specifically, this will allow setting assessment grades to none, and then choosing your rubric grading system independently.
Along with this improvement, we have also enhanced the mark range to automatically provide range options starting from 1. So if your first descriptor is 3 points, you will be able to select from 1-3 via the mark range function.

Though the name belies its flexibility, the textbox is our most used component, with over 1.2 million in use! The textbox already has the ability to handle not just text, but video, files and the automatic embedding of 3rd party systems. So with this release, we have dusted off the cobwebs, and given this venerable component the love it deserves. It now features an inline editing experience which provides inline live page previews, simplified editing and no page reloads when saving.

Part of our commitment last year was to start building all new features as APIs first. This work has been underway and many features have been built as APIs, or recently been rebuilt to include APIs. To make these APIs more accessible, we now provide a JWT token that can be used with Bearer Authorisation to access any API endpoint. Currently you can find APIs for News, Calendars and Users, with more coming soon. You can find the initial information published on the new API documentation site.

As storage requirements grow, onsite storage is not getting any cheaper. We have been looking for ways to help schools save money, while continuing to allow Schoolbox to host an increasing variety of high quality resources.
Schoolbox Cloud customers have already been benefiting from cloud storage for some time. We are excited to announce that on-premise customers can now also benefit from cloud storage. For customers that want to fully embrace cloud storage, you can now opt into storing all your data in the cloud, while maintaining your existing onsite instance.
If you just want some extra peace of mind, we have a cloud backup service that will keep all your files and database syncronised to the cloud. In the event of a disaster, we can recover your instance directly into our cloud service.

Over the years the Twitter API has become increasingly difficult to use. It is often slow to update and doesn’t go back more than a few weeks. The new component embeds the actual feed from Twitter itself, giving full support for all Twitters latest features. The new component supports lists, collections, authors or even single tweets.
