The Class Markbook allows any staff member in your school to view assessment results in one place for a  specific class. The Markbook indicates which students are yet to submit, which teacher feedback drafts are waiting to be published, and where feedback has already been published. In addition, the Class Markbook allows a teacher to analyse the data within their class to identify trends.

Access from your My Classes Page

1. Select the 'Classes' icon in the Top Menu.

2. Select the 3-dot menu next to the class.

3. Select 'Class Markbook'.

Access from your Class Page

1. Navigate to your Class Page.

2. Select the 3-dot menu at the top right of your page.

3. Select 'Class Markbook'.

Using Markbook Insights and Quick Actions

When viewing the Class Markbook, it is possible to view insights into assessment grades, and to perform Quick Actions, such as excluding a student from an assessment.

1. Navigate to your Class Markbook.

2. Select a cell where a grade is displayed or which is empty. This will open the Insights and Quick Actions menu.

3. Select the menu option to perform the action.

Using the Class Markbook

The Class Markbook gives you the opportunity to see what has been marked, what requires marking, the marks that individual students have received and statistics, such as the average of the class.

Filters

When viewing the Class Markbook, it will display scrollable results of all assessments for that class. You can filter the items being displayed using the drop-down filter categories:

  • Assessment Type
  • Due in Academic Period
  • Unit
  • Activity Status
  • Weighting
  • Work Type

1. Select your filter options from the drop-down menus.

2. Select ‘Apply Filters’.

3. To clear the filters. Select ‘Reset to default'.

 

Show drafts

You can choose if you wish to see marks or feedback that is in draft form. This will show any submissions that have been marked but where the grade has not yet been published. Drafts are shown in grey and italicised.

Flags

The flag colours and words within the markbook indicate the submission and feedback status of the learning activities. 

  • Green - feedback published as per the visibility selected. 
  • Orange - feedback has either been added but not yet published, or published feedback has been updated and the update has not yet been published.
  • Grey - no feedback given.
  • Pending - ‘Pending’ indicates that the teacher has not yet provided any feedback to a student submission.
  • '-'- a dash indicates that there is either no overall grade given or that an overall grade cannot be given (as the Due Work's Mark Type is set to 'None').

 

Class Average

In the Class Markbook, you can view the average grade for the class. This grade is responsive to your filter selections. 

 

Weighting Details

The Class Markbook can provide you with additional details and data about the weighting of your assessment tasks. To view your weighting data, and make changes if required, select the drop-down arrow next to 'Class Average'.

To change the weighting, simply navigate to the weighting of the assessment you wish to edit, and use the arrows to adjust.

Visibility

The Class Markbook allows for you to see the visibility of grades for assessments you have created, and to alter the visibility from the same location. To change the visibility, select the drop-down arrow next to the icon and select the new visibility.

Downloading the Class Markbook

In addition to being viewable inside Schoolbox, the Class Markbook can be downloaded as a spreadsheet. The filters that have been applied to the markbook will also be applied to the downloaded spreadsheet. 

To download a Class Markbook:

1. Navigate to your Class Markbook.

2. Use the ‘Show Drafts’ checkbox to decide if you wish to include draft feedback and grading in your download.

NOTE: If drafts are included in the download, the word ‘Draft’ will be prepended to the file name. Draft grading and feedback within the spreadsheet will have ‘(draft)’ amended to them.

3. Select the 3-dot menu to the top right of the page.

4. Select 'Download Spreadsheet'.

The Project marks appear in the downloaded Class Markbook spreadsheet.

Managing the Class Markbook

A Superuser can also allow a student's rank to be displayed within all of the class and course markbooks that staff roles can access. 

1. Navigate to Administration > Settings  > LMS Policy.

2. Toggle the ‘Display Student Rank’ to 'ON'.
