  • Quizzes: Offers options such as ‘View more recent activity’, ‘Exclude student’, and ‘View attempts’.
  • Projects: The markbook cell is not clickable, so no options appear.

As a school staff, from the Course Markbook, you can adjust the grade visibility for each learning activity to quickly adjust who can see assessment results and feedback. - whether it's students, parents, or staff only.

Note: ‘School staff’ here refers to teachers, pastoral care staff, and others involved in student wellbeing and learning. Admin or Superusers with write access to all the classes linked to the course can perform this task.

This feature enables the gradual release of feedback to different user groups. It also allows for this process to be actioned from a central location, rather than having to visit the markbook of each specific class.

This guide explains how to adjust the visibility of assessment feedback from the course markbook.

To set the visibility of assessment feedback from the course markbook:

    1. Go to Courses.
    2. In Course List, select a course from the list. For example, Year 9 English.

  2. Next, go to the specific learning activity for which you want to set visibility.
Note: You may need to scroll horizontally or apply filters if the list is long.
Notice that there will be a visibility toggle available for each class where the learning activity exists.

  3. For each class, select the ‘Visibility settings’ icon  to choose from the drop-down list:
    • Staff Only
    • Staff and Students
    • Staff, Students, and their Parents

This updates the visibility settings for the learning activity for each class.

You will need to work your way down the page to apply these changes to each class in the cohort.

Using the Course Markbook

Are you sure you want to remove this component?

The Course Markbook gives you the opportunity to see what has been marked, what requires marking, the marks that individual students have received, the average percent per class, and the average percent the cohort has achieved.

There are a number of features that help you to understand what is happening in the cohort who are taking this course.

Show Display Marks

You can check the Show Display Marks checkbox to view marks as letter grades—the same format students and parents see (display mark type). If you leave it unchecked, you'll see marks as percentages, which is the format used for grading (input mark type).

Note: The display mark type is what students and parents will see, while the input mark type is what school staff use to grade assessments. For example, as a school staff, you’ll see marks as percentages, but students and parents will always see marks as letter grades on their pages.

Show drafts

You can choose if you wish to see marking that is in draft form. This will show the grade for any submissions that have been marked but where the grade has not yet been published. Drafts are shown in grey and italicised.

Flags

The flag colours indicate that mark status of the tasks.

image.php?hash=a155b0ed9ef1740b1f10148d2b337c7db4a3be13

Grey - No mark

Orange - Unpublished draft mark. This is shown when further feedback has been given or current feedback has been edited, but not yet published.

Red - Resubmit. This is shown when a teacher has requested a student resubmit their assessment.

Green - Mark published

Pending - ‘Pending’ indicates that the teacher has not yet created any feedback.

The line indicates that the student has not yet submitted.

Course Average

In the Course Markbook, you can view the average grade for the cohort. This grade is responsive to your filter selections, so it may change depending on which classes or groups you have selected.
