The Blog component is a great way to collaborate within a Class or Group. They can be used in a variety of ways including, but not limited to informing students in a Class or Group of something important, creating a summary of an event such as class excursion or even for the purposes of a joint writing activity such as a class journal.

Adding the Blog Component

1. To add the component to your page, select the '+' button at the top of your page.

2. Select the 'Information' tab.

3. Drag and drop the component to the desired location.

Instructions to use the Blog component

1. Select 'Post Blog' to add a new blog post.

2. Add a title, content, images and/or files.

3. When complete, select 'Post Blog'.

Using Alternative Sourcing to Display a Blog Across Multiple Pages

You can display a blog from another location in Schoolbox or have multiple blog components on one page, if you use Alternative Source Linking.

1. Unlock your page.

2. Select the settings cog in the component header.

3. Select 'Browse'.

3. Navigate to the location of the Blog you wish to include. 

4. Select 'Use this Folder'.

5. Click 'Update'. The blog created on that page will appear in the Blog component on your page. 

NOTE: If you wish to have your current Blog and an additional blog, ensure you add a new Blog component and then follow the above steps.

Blog Component Settings

1. To view and change the settings in the Blog component, you first need to unlock your page.

2. Select the Settings cog.

The Blog component settings allow you to:

  • Collapse the content of your component.
  • Change the heading of the component.
  • Limit the number of blog posts displayed. "All" will display all blog posts, while any specified number will limit the display to that number of posts.
  • Select an alternative source for your blog component.

Removing the Blog Component

Are you sure you want to remove this component?

To remove the component from your homepage, unlock your page, and select the 'X' at the top-right of the components header.

NOTE: Removing the component will not remove the content of the blog itself. If you re-add the Blog component later, all posts will still be visible. 

Modifying a Blog Post

Are you sure you want to remove this component?

Users with 'Write' access to a page can modify any Blog, by selecting the 'Modify Blog Post' icon, next to the post.

This will allow you to change the heading, modify the content, or add new or additional images.

From the 'Modify Blog' screen, you can also select the 3-dot menu and delete the blog post.

NOTE: Blogs that belong to deleted users will still be visible until you delete them.

Comments on Blog Posts

Are you sure you want to remove this component?

Users with 'Read' or 'Write' access to a page can comment on Blog posts that are created. Once they have commented, the user who wrote the comment, or a user with 'Write' access to the page, can delete the comment.

1. To add a comment, select '+ Add Comment'. Add your content, then select the 'Add Comment'.

2. To view previous comments, select 'Show Comments'.

3. To delete a comment, select the 'Delete' icon next to the comment.

View Archived Blogs

Are you sure you want to remove this component?

Users with 'Read' or 'Write' access to a page can view previous blog posts. Blog posts are 'Archived' when the limit of blog posts selected on the component is reached.

To view previous blog posts, select 'Blog Archive'.
